The summer is gone and the trees are slowly dropping the leaves that have lost their green colour and turning yellow and brown. The temperature is falling, the days are getting shorter and the sky is seldom blue. The autumn is moving in. The time has come to change the content of the wardrobe. It is time to replace light summer clothing with warmer sweatshirts, sweaters and jackets. This is not a big issue; simply check out the boutiques and retailer shops near you to see what fashion designers have created for the autumn/winter 2007/8.

The fabrics of the autumn/winter 2007/2008 collections are not new but the styles have slightly changed to those of the last season.

Most of the mainstream labels present designs made of pure cotton, polyester blended with cotton, nylon, satin, silk, lycra(spandex), pure new wool or acrylic. Casual wears included bright coloured t-shirts worn under long-sleeved shirts for both women and men in blue, black, grey or brown jeans. Sweatshirts with or without hood, with or without prints in black, grey, red and different shades of green are still trendy.  continue>

For the ladies, bright-coloured knee-long skirts made of printed cotton, silk and lycra are combined with cotton blouses and light polyester/cotton jackets. Ladies should feel sensuous in silky brown, wine red, cream and classic black dessous created by some popular labels.

For business and evening occasions, 2-piece and 3-piece suits in grey, brown and black colours are in for men as well as women. Women also have the option to choose from dresses in a variety of styles and fabrics either with colourful prints or in a single colour. The suits may not be uniform. Combination of jackets and trousers with different colours and fabrics are allowed.

Leather is the main material for the winter jackets, worn over woollen sweaters and jeans. The combination is not only for casual outing. Jeans has found its way into the business sessions. Cashmere overcoats in elegant designs are also available for the ladies. They may be worn over knitted dresses, woollen suits or combinations of sweaters and trousers. The colours range from beige, cream to dark brown and black.

At “die grosste Strassenmodenschau der Welt” (the biggest street fashion show of the world) event in Krefeld, German, that took place between 15th and 16th September 2007, many of the popular labels presented their creations for autumn/winter 2007/8.
